Website Terms of Use

Effective Date: January 1, 2026
Last Updated: October 3, 2026

Welcome to The Road Taught Me, operated by Double D Ventures, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms of Use govern your use of https://www.theroadtaughtme.com, including its articles, videos, comments, free tools, downloadable materials, and other website features.

Please read these terms before using the website. By using the website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.

1. Scope of These Terms

These terms apply to our main website and the content and tools provided through it, including Ride Ready motorcycle trip planning tools.

Purchases made through our merchandise store at https://shop.theroadtaughtme.com are governed by that store’s terms, refund policy, shipping policy, and other applicable policies.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information collected through the main website.

2. Educational and Informational Content

Our website shares motorcycle safety information, riding experiences, travel suggestions, gear recommendations, and other educational and informational content.

This content does not replace:

  • Formal motorcycle or driver training.

  • Individual instruction from a qualified professional.

  • Your motorcycle’s owner’s manual or manufacturer instructions.

  • Professional inspection, maintenance, or repairs.

  • Medical, legal, insurance, or financial advice when those subjects are discussed.

Reading an article, watching a video, using a tool, or communicating through the website does not, by itself, establish an instructor-student or other professional-client relationship.

You are responsible for evaluating whether information is appropriate for your experience, motorcycle, health, location, and circumstances.

3. Motorcycle Riding and Personal Responsibility

Motorcycling involves risks, including serious injury, death, and property damage. No website content, riding technique, product, checklist, or planning tool can eliminate those risks.

You are responsible for your riding decisions, motorcycle condition, protective equipment, compliance with applicable laws, and assessment of road, traffic, weather, and personal conditions.

Ride within your abilities. Follow manufacturer guidance and applicable laws, and seek qualified instruction or assistance when needed.

Descriptions or demonstrations of riding activities are not instructions to imitate an activity where doing so would be unsafe or unlawful.

4. Free Tools and Ride Ready

Ride Ready and other free tools are provided for general planning assistance. Their results depend on the information you enter and the assumptions used by the tool.

You are responsible for checking your inputs and evaluating results before relying on them.

Motorcycle Packing Checklist

A generated checklist may not include everything required for your trip, destination, medical needs, weather conditions, or motorcycle.

Confirm your equipment, required documents, luggage security, and the motorcycle’s load limits before departure.

Motorcycle Trip Budget Calculator

Budget calculations are estimates. Actual fuel prices, lodging rates, taxes, meals, fees, and other expenses may differ.

Allow for unexpected costs and independently confirm important prices and reservations.

Motorcycle Fuel-Stop Planner

Fuel range and suggested refueling intervals are estimates. Actual range can vary with fuel economy, usable tank capacity, load, speed, terrain, weather, and motorcycle condition.

The tool does not guarantee that a fuel station exists, is open, has fuel available, or can be reached safely. Independently verify fuel availability, maintain an appropriate reserve, and refuel sooner when conditions warrant.

Tool Availability

We may update, replace, suspend, or discontinue free tools. We do not promise continuous availability, permanent storage of results, or compatibility with every device or browser.

Save any results you wish to keep.

5. Permitted Use and Downloads

Subject to these terms, you may access our website and download materials we expressly make available for download.

You may:

  • Save or print articles, checklists, and tool results for your personal, noncommercial use.

  • Share your own generated trip plans or results privately with people traveling with you.

  • Share links to our website and publicly available content.

  • Use downloaded materials for your own trip preparation.

Keep any copyright notices, attribution, safety notices, and disclaimers included in downloaded materials.

Unless we provide written permission or applicable law permits otherwise, you may not sell, commercially distribute, republish, or incorporate our content or tools into another website, application, course, product, or service.

Materials expressly provided under a separate license are governed by that license.

6. Intellectual Property

Except where otherwise identified, website articles, photographs, videos, graphics, logos, designs, downloadable materials, tool interfaces, and other original content are owned by or licensed to Double D Ventures, LLC.

The Road Taught Me name, branding, and logos may not be used in a way that suggests our sponsorship, approval, or affiliation without written permission.

Third-party names, trademarks, and content belong to their respective owners. Their appearance on our website does not automatically imply a partnership or endorsement.

You retain any rights you have in the original information you submit. We do not claim ownership of your personal trip details merely because you enter them into a tool.

These terms do not restrict rights available under applicable law, including fair use.

7. Comments and User Submissions

You are responsible for comments, messages, and other material you submit.

Submit only material you have the right to share. Do not post:

  • Threats, harassment, unlawful discrimination, or abusive content.

  • Another person’s private or confidential information.

  • Content that infringes intellectual property rights.

  • Spam, deceptive promotions, impersonations, or malicious links.

  • Content encouraging unlawful or dangerous conduct.

Public comments may be visible to other visitors. Avoid posting information you do not want made public.

You retain ownership of your comments. By posting a public comment, you give us a nonexclusive, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, and technically format that comment as reasonably necessary to operate and moderate the website. This permission does not authorize unrelated use of your comment in advertising.

We may remove or restrict comments that violate these terms or reasonably interfere with website operation. We are not obligated to publish or retain every submission.

Comments reflect their authors’ views. We do not endorse or guarantee the accuracy of user-submitted information.

Personal information in submissions is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Acceptable Website Use

You may not:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the website, accounts, systems, or data.

  • Introduce malware or interfere with website security or operation.

  • Use automated methods to collect personal information from visitors or commenters.

  • Bypass access restrictions or misuse forms and tools.

  • Use the website for fraud, impersonation, or other unlawful activity.

We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address misuse, protect security, or comply with law.

9. External Links and Embedded Content

Our website may link to or display content from third-party websites and services, including retailers, video platforms, social media services, and organizations we support.

We do not control those services and cannot guarantee their content, availability, security, products, or practices.

Your use of a third-party service is subject to its own terms and policies. Purchases, donations, reservations, and other transactions with third parties are between you and that provider.

A link does not, by itself, establish that the third party sponsors or endorses The Road Taught Me.

10. Affiliate Links, Sponsorships, and Recommendations

Some content includes affiliate links. We may earn a commission when you make a qualifying purchase through those links.

We may also receive payment, free products, discounted products, or other benefits in connection with certain content. Material relationships are disclosed with the relevant content.

Recommendations reflect our opinions and experiences at the time they are shared. They do not guarantee a product’s performance, compatibility, availability, or suitability for you.

Confirm specifications, installation requirements, warranties, prices, and return terms with the seller or manufacturer before purchasing.

11. Accuracy and Changes

We aim to provide useful and accurate information, but content may contain errors or become outdated.

Road conditions, laws, product specifications, prices, business hours, and service availability can change. Verify information that materially affects your safety, travel, or purchases.

We may correct, update, or remove website content without advance notice.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the website, free tools, and downloadable materials are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

This includes implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement.

We do not warrant that the website or tools will be uninterrupted, error-free, completely secure, or accurate in every circumstance, or that use of them will produce a particular result.

Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty or protection that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Limitations of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Double D Ventures, LLC and its owners, employees, and representatives will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website, its free tools, or downloadable materials.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability for claims arising from the website and its free services will not exceed $100.

These limitations do not apply to fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or any liability that applicable law prohibits us from excluding or limiting. They do not limit nonwaivable consumer rights.

The applicability of these provisions depends on the law governing a particular claim.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms as website features or business practices change. Revised terms will appear on this page with an updated date.

Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or obtain agreement to material changes. Changes are not intended to retroactively remove rights relating to an existing dispute.

15. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia and applicable United States federal law, subject to any mandatory legal protections that apply to you.

Nothing in these terms deprives you of rights or remedies that cannot be waived under applicable law.

16. Severability

If a provision is determined to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
